The Irish Terrier Club of New York
"Tá fáilte romhaibh, a chairde"
Welcome Friends
Thank you for visiting the Irish Terrier Club of New York! Since 1957 we have celebrated, appreciated and adored Irish Terriers - as described by Albert Payson Terhune, "Perhaps the finest dog on earth."
We are breeders, pet owners and competitors in conformation and performance events. No matter what our special interest might be - we all share the desire to preserve and protect our breed.
Although membership hails principally from the East Coast, we welcome and have members from all over the U.S. and Europe. We welcome anyone who shares our enthusiasm for Irish Terriers. For further information check Membership Information
If you are visiting us to learn more about the breed, please check out our History and About the Breed sections. Once you determine that an Irish would be a good fit, you can check out our Breeder Referral page. This will help you locate a reasonably local source for more personal and hands on research. In fact, we recommend actually visiting an Irish Terrier home to see them "up close and personal." This will allow you the opportunity to discuss the breed and ask lots of questions. We don't mind. In fact - Irish Terriers are one of our favorite subjects.
Another possible source is our Rescue Program. Occasionally we do have Irish in need of new homes and these may be more suitable for some as they are generally housebroken, leash trained and perhaps a bit less of a challenge than a new puppy.
Our section on the history of the Irish Terrier Club of New York is another not to be missed.
The Irish Terrier Club of New York hosts a grooming seminar every summer and you don't need to be a member to come and participate when you have an Irish to spruce up a bit.
So please read all about us! We appreciate your interest and hope that you find this site helpful.
